The lost art of letter-writing

Letter writing forms part of the English curriculum and what better way to practice than to send letters to actual, real, live people!

2nd Class brainstormed a list of famous people we could write to and then the children set about writing a first draft and final draft letter to their chosen famous person.

Some children wrote to the Queen of England, some wrote to our President Michael D Higgins and the Taoiseach, some wrote to famous sports personalities, singers, TV personalities, tech innovators, authors featured heavily - you name them, we wrote to them!

Slowly but surely we are getting replies to our letters - much to our amazement and excitement. I hope we continue to get letters back in reply.

President Higgins has by far been the most responsive!
