Swimming Lessons
UPDATE - ALL CHILDREN MUST WEAR GOGGLES AND SWIM HATS TO BE ALLOWED INTO THE POOL
Just a quick note to let everyone know that we have organised swimming lessons for all children from 2nd Class upwards. The classes will take place over 5 weeks between mid-term break and Easter.
Swimming is an important part of the primary school curriculum under the strand of aquatics. Sadly, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to offer classes in 2020 and 2021, so we are delighted to be able to re-introduce them to the curriculum this year
Classes will start after mid-term (see timetable below) in the GN Mulranny Park Hotel for 2nd – 4th Classes, and in Westport Leisure Centre for 5th and 6th Class, and will run for five weeks.
This year, it has been particularly challenging finding a suitable venue for the swimming, as our usual venue of Hotel Westport is no longer catering for large groups, and many venues simply do not have sufficient instructors. We have resolved this by using two separate locations, and are confident the children will receive excellent tuition in a safe environment. All pupils from 2nd class upwards should participate in the lessons, as swimming classes form an important part of the P.E Curriculum.
The price of lessons has increased, and the school will subsidise some of the cost. The cost to parents, including transport, is €30 for the 5 weeks, with a discount for parents with more than one child in the school. Payment can be made via Aladdin Connect.
