First Holy Communion

Dear parents of second class,

First Communion is a very important sacrament in your child’s life. Fr Tod and Mr Gallagher, who prepared the children for this sacrament, are working very hard to put the necessary protocols in place to enable First Communion to be celebrated in Newport.

We are delighted that Fr Tod has arranged for us to celebrate First Holy Communion on Saturday August 22nd. We are constrained by numbers and so Fr Tod has kindly arranged to host two ceremonies. The first mass will take place at 11am followed by a second at 1pm.

Seats and ceremony time slot will be assigned by a fair lottery (names from a hat!). Families who may have difficulty with that particular date are asked to contact Fr Tod at 087 2401971, and he can arrange to have your family included in the celebration of mass at a later date.

We regret not being able to provide opportunities for the children to read prayers, deliver offerings and sing together this year. I know that every effort will be made to make this a memorable day in the children’s life. The ceremony will be simple but no less meaningful and this moment will be remembered forever by the most important people - the communicants themselves.

We will be in touch with all parents of communion children shortly with details of your mass time and seat number.
